OP here, managed to make a slightly less suckier version of my original sketch.
As you can see, it's based on Southwest US and has a shit ton of desert. Though the theme here is that most of the desertic region of Ariad is based on the ones where there's a lot of flora and fauna, not the Saharan deserts where is nothing but barren sand dunes.
Except for those cream spots. Those are meant to be hell.
