Pokémon is THE game for casuals. Everyone and their mother played at least one Pokémon game in their life.
Of course the casuals are the ones that buy it and see nothing wrong with it. The hardcore audience of Pokémon is tiny compared to the people just play the game until the end once and leave it to gather dust. I would even be as brave to say a good majority of hadcore gamers don't even touch Pokémon.
