If it requires materially disappearing from a place and you don't have access to higher dimensions than the 3rd (4th), then it likely requires "dying" in a sense of material (and likely spiritual) disassembly. However, if you have ready access to higher dimensions, or a practical way to perform energy-mass conversions, which are both things that are naturally available to Pokémon depending on the interpretation of the setting, then it is unlikely that teleporting requires disassembly, and in this case it would behave closer to decohering or deprojection.
