> WHY RUBY/SAPPHIRE REMAKES ARE DESERVED:
- Game Boy Advance games (third gen) cannot be played on the Nintendo DS. Main series Pokemon games also never come to the eShop. Nintendo DS, especially the GBA-capable iterations, are dead consoles. Kids aren't collectors with money to spare - don't just think about yourself.
- Third gen games were not wi-fi capable.
- The debut of Ruby and Sapphire will be eleven years ago after X and Y have come out. Give it a couple more years and that number will be 12, 13, 14.... which would be the largest gap between original and remake yet (not complaining; it's a deserved length of time. In just a few more years it will be perfectly 'ripe'.)
- Gameplay mechanics have come very far since Ruby and Sapphire came out (see: physical/special moves, Fairy type, evolutions of Generation III Pokémon, many more examples.)
- This also goes for the graphical leap. Give me Hoenn in glorious 3D.
- Ruby and Sapphire were classic, but yes, they had their problems. Ruby and Sapphire remakes could fix things: improve surfing speed, implement the day/night feature, etc. The characters and plots from the Hoenn games could be fleshed out and given new dialogue and events.
- The games will change substantially from the original and not just be 'rehashes'. Think of how many new things were in HGSS compared to GS. There could be the return of following Pokemon, and they could radically expand the postgame which was lacking in the original Ruby & Sapphire.
- The games will bring the setting of Hoenn to a new generation. Pokemon is a cash cow. Kids will see the ruby/sapphire remake commercial, and they will want to buy.
- It simply makes full logistical sense for Game Freak to remake the Hoenn games. It's going to happen. I am not stating this from the viewpoint of a hoennbaby, I am stating this with common goddamn sense.
