The Cyndaquil line is very clearly based on the Mythical Fire Rat. In fact all the current starters fit a spot in the zodiac one way or another if you're willing to stretch a bit, which is exactly the problem. Delphox being the dog is the biggest stretch but its understandable to an extent, but how far will it go. They could make a hippo and it would be considered a horse, they could make make a really fluffy dog and it'd be called a sheep (sheep Dog), they could even make a slug and it'd be called a cow since that's an honest to god pun in Japanese. Literally anything that could be used as a fire starter could be interpreted to fit in the zodiac is someone's starting with the assumption that the zodiac is already a thing, but we haven't gotten any actaul proof the the zoadic theory is real. The only time Game Freak has ever mentioned a zodiac implied that they already completed it by Gen 2 and had nothing to do with fires starters. And if has never been refenced in-game in away, and they aren't even in order. And if they run out of Chinese animals what the fuck will they do?

There are several problems with the zodiac theory, However the idea of Cyndaquil being the rat has nothing to do with its appearance, Its logic of it being a rat is because its pretty much the pokemon on version of a hinezuimi. regardless, the entire Zodaic theory is flawed because the main quote used to support simple said that the creator wanted to have representing the Zodiac somewhere in GCS, starters aren't mentioned anywhere. Meaning even if the zodiac theory is true it doesn't have to be the starters. They could easily consider Rapidash to to the Horse, and even then nothing about the quote even mentions fire types.

One could areue that Camerupt is suppored to be the Ox

Again, had they added the bear, then started calling it a mouse, you may have a point, or deleting a bear starter and adding cyndaquil in its place in a later Gen, but they launched comething they called a nezumi, with clear parallels to a mythological fire-dwelling rodent. In Gen II, after they'd filled out the 'Dex zodiac. they're a tad more creative than /vp/ though, that's why they held onto the zodiac for inspiration on Fire starters, rather than fuck it out as "complete" like you retards here are insisting they were doing.
