bit of a tangent but i wanna say i think the most popular unovamon being the fucking chandelier is really cool and exemplifies why i love unova's dex. the chandelier is not marketable. it's an objectmon, which is the same thing unova got torn apart for a decade ago. its popularity is organic. no offense to lucario or mewtwo fans, but if someone has them as their favorite pokemon, it's probably because they saw it in the anime or in smash or something, and they're probably not too invested in pokemon as a whole. but if someone says chandelure is their favorite pokemon? that's a true honest-to-god pokemon fan who's played the games and used the mons and they have a deep bond with that funky chandelier (or they played pokken but nobody played pokken)
