ROMhacks and Essentials are too time-consuming for the seemingly endless stream of edgelord teenagers to finish and everyone wants to do their own thing rather than form any kind of a coherent cooperative project. Meanwhile, Gamefreak is too fucking lazy to actually do anything other than pocket the revenue gained from churning out awful games that the normals fucking slurp up every year like it was the greatest franchise in history. Unless there is some massive corporate upheaval that places Pokemon in another dev team's hands, we will never see the light of day.
