Regional birds got tired after gen 2. First, you have Pidgey, it needed to exist. Then Hoothoot was there to show how the day/night mechanic works. And then you got a 'regional' Pidgey. It's the same pokemon with different base stats. At least Talonflame got a different type and Corviknight works as a taxi, but the others have nothing special.
