Pokemon TCG is simply not very fun as a card game. It feels way less interactive than either Magic or Yugioh and more like a "I do my own thing" kind of game. There are interactions but they're all really one sided and have very limited counterplay (Gusting, Marnie / N'ing) outside of the Stadium floodgates.
It also doesn't help that while the other big 2 have at least passable online sims to get new players, PTCG has absolute dogshit with both TCG Online requiring you to grind/spend money or PTCGLive having bad UI
