Took the opportunity to start another account while the double experience lasts. Reached lv 20 on my second day, but this is where the exp crawl will start for real. Have 5 lucky eggs from level up bonuses, but even if I were to get 160k+ from evolving stuff, I still would only get half way to Lv 30 (and even then I wouldn't be able to fit everything I wanted to evolve in my storage).
Oh well, Lv 20 is still better than nothing, might use it to knock my main account out of gyms if I suspect I'll be missing the daily coin quota, or deal some slight damage on 'solo' raids from stuff I've evolved from the wild.
That said, starting a new account made me realise how Niantic have gotten absolutely nowhere in terms of actual missions and NPC interaction. You meet the professor, you catch your starter, you're told to spin a pokestop, and once you've done that ....... nothing. I already know the ins and outs of the game, but I can only imagine how some normie would feel very unmotivated to get out there and start catching them all since everything is just implied.
Takes until Lv 5 to get the next interaction to choose a team, but even after that they're not explaining shit. Nothing about what makes gyms special, nothing about what raids are, nothing about how you can assign buddies, and even the infinity incubator is absent in your inventory and only shows up once you get an egg, so even that could be completely missable.
There's one thing to hold hands and make non-skippable tutorials for everything, and another to just have barely anything explained and then expect people to just start the grind themselves. It's soon been 2 years, millions if not billions of revenue, and this game is still shit by my standards. So glad I haven't spent a dime on it, I play it because I like the Pokemon franchise and that it gets me out walking, so if either of those two motivators are missing, I'll never recommend it for others.
