Upgraded to the XL last week. The thing is comfy as fuck and the upgrade in screen size is really, really great. Highly recommend it, at least over the default 3DS.
IMO, go either 2DS for cheapness or 3DS XL for comfy / good looking. The inbetween isn't too great.
