>>57339401After many years of being a poorfag and now that i own almost everything Gen 2 related, i can safely say that... it depends on what you want out of Gen 2.
>GBCThe original experience.
If you own 2 you can Mystery Gift which is kinda fun for a few reasons.
The handheld itself albeit small, is not tiresome to use.
GBCs with a modded backlight screen are super nice.
>SPIts pointless to go to a GBA since SP is a bit more compact and has a backlit screen.
The awkward sticking out of the cart can be a hinderence if you're not careful.
No hassle of using conventional batteries, just plug in your charger and keep on gamin'.
No Mystery Gift on those.
>3DSIts real nice especially on the XL variants, huge display to enjoy your game
Celebi event
Mystery Gift still works because 3DS also uses IR sensors
Some silly changes, namely certain flashing effects have been toned down for example and no game corner if you're australian
No worry over your game battery running dry and losing your progress
>EmulationObviously the easiest alternative providing not only a huge range of supported devices but also nearly every kind of customization and fine tuning.
You miss out on stuff like trading and Mystery Gift unless you look into turbo nerd stuff that provide that.
Frameskipping if you're that impatient. and yet you're playing pokemon for some reason.
I personally love to play Gen 2 on a handheld because i get to do all the shit i wish i could when i was 10 and how "it just feels right". The closest to that emulation has brought me was back when i was emulating on my PSP and i gotta say it was sort of special in its own right. To sum up, its mainly a preference thing but i guess the only "wrong way to play" would be to always have frameskip on during emulation and cheat like a motherfucker. Why play the game when you would speed through the game and have 0 amount of challenge/real engagement anyway ya know?
