Right now I’m using Hitmonchan (Counter / Power-Up Punch / Ice Punch), Umbreon (Snarl / Last Resort - still need Foul Play), and Jirachi (Confusion / Doom Desire).
I lead with Hitmonchan but switch him out immediately if the matchup isn’t favorable. If it is, though, I let him get to work at buffing himself with Power-Up Punch. I usually use one or both shields on him since he’s pretty frail and worth keeping alive once he’s at full power.
If I swap out Hitmonchan, I usually send in Umbreon instead (which I hardly have to use shields for). That way I can reserve Jirachi in case the opponent has any faggot Fairy-type move users, which pose a massive threat to Hitmonchan and Umbreon.
Currently at 57 wins, 23 losses. I’d like to end up with about a 75/25 split, but I’m not sure if that’s gonna happen. I got where I am without having Ice Punch on Hitmonchan, though, and am doing a lot better now that he’s got it.
