In the year 2032, a Unovan scientist working in Orre discovers a new element that is extremely energy efficient, and names it Orrium. Overnight, Orre goes from a backwater shithole to a rapidly growing economic center, with Unovan investors, including the Herriots, flocking in order to take advantage of the resource. This is of course, followed by a wave of political extremism and instability, with crime lords, gangs, lone actors, and militias carrying out attacks on construction sites and business leaders in order to defend against a perceived attack on national sovereignty. This leads to Unovan, Galarian, and Kalosian investors becoming prejudiced against the Orrean masses who are largely still poor and criminal. A joint military occupation by the Unovan government in tandem with several private security firms is brought in to quell skyrocketing crime, and you guessed it, HSS is one of the primary firms.
In 2044, an economic depression hits Paldea, as a result of continued stagnation due to domestic firms being unable to compete on the world stage. This leads to a coup and the rise of Caudillismo. Similar events occur in Japan which at this time is still fractured between the four regions and an oil shortage from the Tiksi region (Russia) being unable to supply them with oil. Japan's top crime lord launches a coup against the Sinnoh government, and begins unifying Japan.
In 2050, the Caudillo finalizes plan to create a war-based economy (basically TNO Goring) and occupies southern Kalos to turn it into an industrial center, because Kalos still kept the nature. He then starts invading the north. Likewise, the newly unified Japan invades Tiksi for oil.
Six years of world warring later, Japan and Paldea are humiliated and occupied. Macro Cosmos has been weakened by the invasion of Orre targeting mostly their mines. The story begins a decade after the war ends
As you can see, it's probably better if I go with an original setting.
