The only real difference is that society decrees that it is their duty to set examples, whether or not they have the right to be any sort of teacher. The amount of unironic manchildren in this board alone should be enough proof of that.
No matter how much they try to say otherwise, the current state of AI (especially GPT's model) definitely has the sufficient tools to supplement even professional help; to a degree. But the catch is that it is only possible by making it clear to the AI that you want to change. If you actively want help, it can deliver. If you simply want to 'escape', it can also deliver. The people who ended it from an AI conversation pulled it off because their intent was irresponsible with the latter option. Video games were my escape with its finite parameters, and AI's less limited parameters dwarf video games by a lot, and that is very dangerous for the mentally ill.
