development has gone well (conceptualIzing started around march 2022). current plan is a late 2025 release though they may delay it so that it can be released on pokémon’s 30th anniversary (feb 2026).
currently titled pokémon wisdom & pokémon vigor. tbd, they may switch the titles to pokémon young & pokémon old if wisdom / vigor doesn’t test well internally (or if they have some issues with translation).
sTory is fairly simple. tHe professor wants you to get strong enough to tame one of the “great beasts”. one theme that goes strong In theSe games IS the “internal struggle”. young ones seek wisdom while old ones seek vigor. because oF this, the box legends Are reversed (similar to poKEmon black & pokémon white) though they may change this if it’s deemed too confusing.
once you tame the great beast the story concludes with a “manifestation of your inner struggle”, the third legendary who appears only to those who are ready (and is an infinite legendary it can’t “die”).
the reason why the story is structured like this is because gen x is going to be a mmorpg. you join a server, wander around your home town as a bunch of other players wander around too (you can trade and battle with them once you reach a certain level), and talk to the professor. from there it’s a standard pokémon game, battle gyms (when entering a gym it’s just you and the gym leader, other players are not present even if they are fighting at the same time) etc at your own pace.
due to the performance issues of scarlet and violet, the current plan is for gen x to be exclusive to the next gen switch (there will be bundles of course).
