I feel this is since people now will queue for whatever league they're best at when before some people would actively skip at least one bracket that they didn't like
that and the dumb shit like dragon tail/solarbeam groudon isn't what you plan for sometimes
for reference they're all like level 30-33 with sub 2k mmr at most and the makeshift ML teams I had for them was generally gyarados/rhyperior/machamp in a random order
