it's actually over. I cannot do "no in-battle items". I've thought about implementing a punishment system but releasing the Pokémon that was healed by the in-battle item was the only thing I was satisfied with. it makes perfect sense too, since using items in-battle then become detrimental to the run, instead of beneficial. but in that instance, it would mean releasing charmander, which basically means the run is kill. I guess I'll just play with in-battle items.
