>>46437904That's not quite right. It's more like this:
When we were kids, our parents took us to Disney World. It was cool as shit and we lost ourselves, immersed in a fantasy world we loved more than life itself. Then we came back to reality like always, but with hopes in our hearts.
Then each year we watched our parents become richer and richer. We hoped that we could go to Disney World once every 1-2yrs and relive that childhood joy. But as you get older Disney loses its magic. But our parents, who have become rich and distant, appear to have stopped giving a shit.
They send us to Disney World every goddamn year even though we've been on all the rides, seen all the gimmicks. A part of us know we should be thankful we get to go to Disney World at all. But it doesn't really feel the same.
The experience hasn't changed at all since we went for the first time as a kid. And in fact we've started to notice that Disney World kinda smells bad, is covered in kids' sick and generally just hasn't grown up with its audience.
Was it really so much to expect our parents who are now worth 96 billion dollars to put a bit more effort into giving us an experience appropriate to where we are in life now? I guess we're entitled because we hoped they cared.
Obviously the metaphor falls apart a bit as it goes on, but that's my general feelings.
