Gen 5 took full advantage of his own linearity by making the routes as interesting as possible and filled with new pokemon, while Gen 6 has the same linearity but offer no incentive to come back to any route

Something I liked about Unova was finding the rest of it after the elite 4. Just compare gen 5/6 first routes
