I would say my core is Alakazam and Gyarados. Gyarados has good BST, yes, but his diverse movepool puts him at a high status. He can learn Thunder and Fire Blast despite his typing. Gen 1 Gyarados is almost a god among mortals, but anyone can die in a Nuzlocke.
Raticate's definitely great too though. Super Fang is going to be very helpful. Combined with Hyper Fang, and I'm thinking of giving Toxic to him as well.
