>>22705025>Winning with your favorite pokemon, on the other hand, will show you're skillful most of the time as it means you're good enough to make any pokemon viable. If you're up against a player of equal skill and you're using inferior pokemon, you're going to lose given no one makes stupid plays. If you're more skilled then sure, you could win, but using bad pokemon means you're using an inferior team that's more liable to lose against skilled players. This isn't like a fighting game where the skill cap is so high you can use a mediocre fighter well if you practice with it enough, this is pokemon which is a turn based game with a laughably low skill cap. I have no objection to people using uncommon/lower tier pokemon, but if you're aiming to win there's simply many pokemon that are a liability, and it's a safe bet to say that people who just flat-out claim they're a karenfag or whine that people use good pokemon are either bad players, or people who think they're hot shit for using lower-tier but perfectly viable pokemon.
Besides, I've made plenty of favorites by using pokemon competitively. Personal favorite is Kingdra. It's fun to use, gets me wins, has a good aesthetic design and it's not used enough for people to claim I only like it because it's good.
