I caught a Scyther in the bug catching contest and won that shit first try and was immediately sold on using it because I won and the anime always made Scyther out to be a bad ass. I named the Scyther "Blade" because I was fucking like 8 years old and a friend helped me evolve it. Funny enough I was so young I didn't know what the gender symbols meant and my Scizor was actually female. To date, every Scizor I use now has to be female and has to be named "Blade" as an homage to the OG herself.
