For older fans, the "actual fans" crowd would be those of us who stuck around after pokemania ended. It's the people who like Pokemon because it's Pokemon, not because it's a fad or the most popular thing right then. They're the people who deserve to be catered to for being there and buying up shit the entire time. They're your loyal audience, the people who are there for an IP when it goes out of style.
The most insidious thing about dexit is that it's split the most dedicated fans right down the middle. The shill camp is made up of hardcore fans desperately clinging to their broken franchise, the boycott camp is made up of hardcore fans wailing over the loss of their bros. No one is actually winning here. People from either side will delude themselves into thinking they've won, but the shills will get less and less from these games and the boycotters will be deprived of Pokemon entirely.
I haven't seen a fanbase this fucking splintered since Final Fantasy turned to shit.
