It was exciting and new, and not done in a way to really pander. It didn't overstay its welcome. It fit with the "new" feeling. We didn't just get new Pokemon, but new additions to the lines we already loved. It didn't add to powercreep, but helped flesh out the world. We need more cross-gen like this.
