Second it's not sudden, you would definitely know this if you've ever been to /tg/ or /cgl/. Steampunk is like the Naruto of the punk subgenres. All the newfags flock to it and think they're hot shit for just sticking some cogs on a top hat. Don't get me wrong stuff like Jasper Morello, Hellboy and other stuff do great stuff but that's because they keep to the punk side of things. The vast majority of steam punk enthusiasts however treat it as as a lords and ladies tea party hosted by Tim Burton. All this has left a sour taste in everyone else's mouth.
