Shudo used the kitsune bride story to introduce Ninetales to the series, the pokémon BASED OFF the myth of a Kitsune (which was written about as marrying humans just as much as they were cursing them if they pulled one of their 9 tails). And they've only gotten more and nmore blatant, even going as far as to make the shillmon of Gen 9 a furry, clingy jealous catgirlfriend as soon as Masuda and Sugimori were out the door and the last founder was suddenly free of their bullshit.
