The problem is that the dominant choices are so dominant that they appear on more teams than not and that they're fucking boring to play against.
Just look at Natdex OU compared to Gen 8 OU.
Landorus-T, the most used mon in Natdex, only has 21.6% usage. That's less than Seismitoad in Gen 8 OU, who has 22.5% usage and is only the ninth most used mon.
