I always liked it fir the mons, watches the anime for the little monsters, etc. I mever cared about any of the human characters except maybe for Ash or my own trainer in the games. After Emerald I kinda lost interest in it since there werent any Pokemon that interested me and stopped playing all together, came back thanks to Froakie and its evos, other Pokemon like Hawlucha also helped a fair bit. Also, Pokemo-amie is a huge game-selling feature to me, that level.of interaction is somethibg Ive been waiting for for quite a while.
I dunno, I also like the fanart and the different takes on the Pokemon from artist to artist, browsing galleries, finding new art and generally just looking at the drawings is also something I enjoy out of the franchise (maybe its because I also kinda want to draw pokemon too).
I know Im not a true fan of the series for liking these things rather than the battles, the challenge, the trainers or the stories but to me, Pokemon has always been about the creatures and nothing else.
