People often compare Lysandre to the MCU version of Thanos, but I'm surprised that more people haven't drawn a connection between him and the rest of Tony's arc. He's an ultra wealthy tech giant and public figure, who wanted to "save" the world by using his wealth and technology. And once he realizes that he can't accomplish that, he takes the Thanos route. Although his plan is a-lot darker, and closer to Ultron wanting to just wipe the planet clean out of disgust. Thanos was "fair to rich and poor alike". But Team Flare comes with a nice, fat $500,00,000 fine. If you want to surivive in his world, you better have enough money to do it. Ironically, he became the very sort of elitist asshole that he tried to avoid. As they say, "You either die a villain, or...". You know the rest.
