>>58342591That's not the critique I'm making. It's the framing of the card itself, the cropping looks retarded in the art because the artwork is meant to be viewed as a larger piece but they didn't account for what portion fits in the card and doesn't.
Like look at this anniversary Eevee EX, it looks retarded not because of any "Japanese" theme, it's just cropped wrong. Chansey and the cherry on the bottom right fucks up Pikachu's silhouette and creates an optical illusion.
The issue is that it seems rather than giving the artists a template so they know what portion of it is visible, they just tell the artist to illustrate whatever grand piece they want. So then when it goes into the card art it gets framed retardedly, because the original artwork isn't accounting for what the view window looks like. When this art dropped people thought Pikachu was just drawn fucked up, then the full art was released and you just see Chansey is out of frame.
