I don't have a problem with Hoenn. It's not one of my favorite gens but I can see the appeal of it.
Sinnoh is one of the worst gens in my opinion. This is when pokemon designs started going to shit
Unova is based
Kalos has some major problems but I did like a lot of the pokemon designs.
Alola had a few amazing pokemon designs mixed with a bunch of forgettable bland ones
Galar has some of the best pokemon designs however the actual game is severely lacking
I usually judge gens based on pokemon designs more than gameplay so take my input with a grain of salt
