Look at this image.
On the right is regular Godzilla. This is what Tyranitar is roughly (but mainly) based on. It's dark green, and an upright-standing giant lizard monster.
Now look at Mecha-Godzilla on the left. Can you see the difference? It's not "just Godzilla but metal" like they always do in Pokémon. It takes a SHAPE reminiscent of Godzilla and makes it out of pure metal with its own shapes and armour texture. THIS is how you make a "mecha version" of an existing character. To misunderstand this is to miss the point entirely. Gamefreak literally just took a regular Tyranitar, smoothed its model down and replaced the green texture with a shiny green texture, and replaced the spines with glowing triangles.
That's wrong.
