The bulk of information about N's parentage comes from secondary sources, and it doesn't help that G. himself is such a horrible liar the truth could be just as easily damning. The ambiguity only adds another layer of mystery.
In any case, the only person who knows for certain is Ghetsis himself, and he isn't talking. Not after BW2, anyway.
