I answered less megas in the poll, but it doesn't reflect my feelings about this. I'm perfectly fine with just 70 pokemon this gen. I really am fine with it. I just don't like megas. I can't warm up to them. I will use them and accept them as a new thing for pokemon, but I won't like them. I really think it's a bad move and there are other ways to innovate.
The main problem I have with megas is that it's irreversible now. Gamefreak has started skating down this incline and there's no way back up. If megas turn out great, then fine, but if they turn out to be shit then a real chasm will form between fans. Also, they're going to be a constant thing with future generations. There has to be more released next time and I feel like it's a real gimmicky way to fix old pokemon rather than just redistributing stats, adding branching evos, replacing abilities, redistributing moves, adding new items like eviolite, and so on.
Not hating if you like megas, and I know they can't be undone. But this is how I feel about them. Just like ennui or a sort of calm melancholy.
