Posting this project for the first time here. It's called Pokémon Clay and is based on ancient Mesopotamia (Sumer/Akkad/Babylon). Gyms are replaced with ziggurats and leaders with high priests. The goal is to fight 12 high priests in order to challenge the king and his guards (basically champion and elite four). Simultaneously the player will solve a mystery behind attacks of strange Pokémon from the north, the king's sickness caused by the death of his best friend, and a secret cult with sinister aims.
All mons are new. Steel was replaced with silver (more offensive, less defensive) and fairy with mystic, to keep it appropriate to the setting. The mystic type is associated with occultism, mysticism, the divine, and spirituality - all that stuff.
So far I have created everything up to the second city. Because it's currently filled with lot of side quests and optional areas my Pokémon reach level 25 before arriving at the second city kek. I had to cut all EXP by half which works better anyway because mons also learn new moves every 3 levels.
