I'm formulating my own ROM hack of FireRed with all Pokemon available. I've decided to exclude Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves, and Dynamaxing because it's too much of a hassle to include / combine them while keeping the game balanced. However, I still do want to include a mechanic that gives underpowered Pokemon a leg up in battle. What do you think of this?
>New held item, the Giga Shard
>Allows Pokemon to undergo a Giga Boost in battle
>Aesthetically, the only change is that the Pokemon's sprite now slowly pulses with a bright light
>Giga Boosts enhance a Pokemon's stats. The stat enhancement is dependent upon the individual Pokemon
>Legendaries, Mythicals, and Pseudo-Legendaries gain a 5 point boost to each of their 6 base stats
>Pokemon who are otherwise fully-evolved and have evolved at least once gain a 10 point boost to each of their 6 base stats plus an additional 10 point boost to that Pokemon's highest stat. If a Pokemon has stats that tie for highest, then each of those tied stats is boosted by 10 divided by the number of tied stats rounded up (5 points for 2 stats, 4 points for 3 stats, etc.)
>Single-stage Pokemon that are not otherwise Legendaries, Mythicals, and Pseudo-Legendaries, as well as Pokemon that are not yet fully-evolved, gain a 10 point boost to each of their 6 base stats plus an additional 30 point boost to that Pokemon's highest stat. If a Pokemon has stats that tie for highest, then each of those tied stats is boosted by 10 divided by the number of tied stats rounded up (15 points for 2 stats, 10 points for 3 stats, etc.)
>I think turn limits on this might be overkill, but if I were to do that, the limit would be three turns for Legendaries, Mythicals, and Pseudo-Legendaries, and five turns for everyone else
>I'm also leaning towards not doing this, but I've toyed around with this idea of the Giga Boost also changing a Pokemon's Ability to its Hidden Ability while the Giga Boost is in effect
Well, what do you think?
