I've never once gone out of my way to buy a rainbow version but I don't mind pulling them at all. I don't like that cards get both a rainbow and a gold card version these days. Just stick to gold as a max rarity for big ticket cards and rainbows for the lower ticket cards.
Rainbow trainers are an abomination and need to go immediately.
My preferred rarity breakdown to cut down on set bloat:
Ultra rares like Vs get either a Full art version or an alternate art version, not both. No Rainbow or gold.
Ultra rare+ like Vmax and Vstar get either a rainbow or gold, not both. No alt arts; save them for promos.
Supporters get just a full art nothing else. Non-supporter trainers and energies get gold cards.
