The last time I really battled with someone I knew in real life, it was when FRLG just released. I got LG, my brother got FR. Every time we reached a rival battle, we'd stop and wait for the other to catch up, and then have a battle of our own. His Mr. Mime was a monster, as I really liked Poison types, but my Raticate's Hyper Fang menaced him in return. Sadly, he quit before our final battle. I brought that Raticate to my main Ruby file, and now it's in Y.
Also, related to your pic, my White 2 Magnezone was named Smough and I'm planning on MMing a competitive shiny Luxray to name Ornstein.
