Well guys, can we get a sad general? I think this is the first generation where not one single Pokemon in the runup hype has me excited. Every prior generation had me champing at the bit, there was always a few that made me think, "Oh man, I can't wait to have that on my team! I have to catch it as soon as I find it!"
This generation doesn't really have that, and it started out so promising. The first form starters are probably my favorite set ever, but I really don't like any of their evolutions. This might be the first time I box my starter. The other new pokes don't interest me either. Tyrantrum is pretty okay, but the rest just don't make me want to go out and catch them.
The mega evolutions look really really over-designed or really really bland. Mega Venusaur is my "favorite" because venusaur is my favorite starter and his mega is only good because they weren't daring enough to fuck up the design. And apparently he doesn't even get two forms!
I think the theme of this generation might be squandered potential.
