Just did a little reading and I can see why they would be a concern for some people (especially 4chan types that value their "anonymity"), but like you said people have all kinds of methods of tracking us. I take my phone with me everywhere I go and that has a GPS built into it, even offline it tells me exactly where I am, data's always being sold.
As the old saying goes, "If you don't pay for a product, you are the product", and even when we do pay we're still being farmed.
I'l try to be more conscientious of these types of links next time though I guess, maybe lol.
