In the video's example, the game is locked on to a fight against a GHOST shape Missingno., impossible to win without a cheating device, and the game deletes the save file and crashes afterwards.
So it's entirely possible to prepare such a file, sell the cartridge on eBay, then watch the buyer shit bricks, should he/she decide to check the saved game.
