It depends on how much you as a person want to fix the fear in your heart, if you don't want to the Gardevoir can't do anything about it, they can only keep you safe as long as they can and when that time runs out, they'll leave. If you'd want to try and overcome it, they would be very patient and happy to see you get better.
They can do some crazy though, opening a black hole would terrify most people. Reading emotions, not a natural thing people can do. Magical Psychic/Fairy powers to add to all of that. Gardevoirs can be dangerous just like all Pokemon can.
