I think there's a couple fights later on that are mechanically harder+more bullshit fields, but you'll have way more tools for them. Overall Desolation is way easier than Rejuv or Reborn and even with Pulse2+a 15% level boost I'm not having much difficulty barring a couple specific fights that were all in sidequests.
