XY and ORAS the “hey let’s take this design and make it more cooler or make it more of itself and reinforce the designs concept and make it stronger ” I think the Z-A batch of megas would’ve been received better.
Also a lot of the appeal of mega evolution is the aesthetics and look of mons. It doesn’t help if the designs actively make the design less appealing. Both Mega Raichus are a prime example of how NOT to design a mega evolution.
