I've always liked Dragon types since I was a kid. Then, all I cared about was how cool the pokemon were since I was a little Type-A shitcunt. But, I still like the concept of a type that resists all the "normal" ways of attacking it. Everyone has Fire, Water, Grass, and Electric on their team, especially if they're a less experienced player. The fact that its checks are so comparatively specialized gives me the feeling of fighting with/against something out of a monster movie. That's why I love the Dragon on Dragon matchup. Creatures awe inspiring and powerful enough to warrant their own designation in a savage clash to determine the apex predator, or two kids wrestling on the playground; it's your choice really. Fairies are alright. They were a necessary addition to the game that was actually handled really well. I just wish they were a bit less overcentralizing.
That being said some of my favorite pokemon are also Bug types. Even though I can't stand bugs irl they are very cute and deserve many big hugs.
