I'd like a region generally based on South America's crazier ecological phenomenon. Things like the bio luminescent bays/caves, Catatumbo lightning (nearly year-round, concentrated, multi-hour thunderstorms) Iguazu falls (or one of the many HUGE waterfall areas, like the world's tallest, Angel Falls) the Perito Moreno Glacier (Legit glacier field not in a cave), mirror-like salt flats, the Lençóis Maranhenses (prettiest white sand desert oasis/beach looking formations) the Caño Crystales River (Or another highly pigmented, rainbow river) there's the lakes and temples hidden in and around the andes, or the world's tallest isolated plane Mount Roraima (super prehistoric looking).
Like, type coverage is good in terms of possible surrounding 'mons. (Not necessarily in this order, the starred ones being the possible gym/Elite Four types)
Caño Crystales Town *Grass*/Water/Normal/Fairy/Poison/Flying
Iguazu Town *Water*/Grass/Ground/Flying
Catatumbo Town *Electric*/Steel/Water/Ghost could all work
Salt-Flat Town *Ground*/Water/Fire/Rock/Fighting could work
Glacier Town *Ice*/Water work without thinking about a town at all, I'd imagine penguins or other animals could push the theme without the type
Maranhenses Town *Fire*/Normal/Fighting/Fairy/Flying/Ground
Bioluminescent Town *Dark*/Bug/Fairy/Electric/Psychic/Water/Grass/Ghost all fit thematically without stretching much
Andes Town *Fighting*/Ground/Rock/Normal/Psychic/Poison
Roraima/E4 *Dragon*/*Bug*/*Flying*/*Rock*/Grass/Fighting/Water with the Champ being a prehistoric theme
And that was without using theme instead of type. You could fit tons of types and introduce non-standard types much earlier since none of those "towns" are all bug/grass/normal, there's something fun in all of them. They also would bring a TON more color in, versus the somewhat bland colors we've had or the constant green/blue/brown pallet in Sun/Moon.
