>>37102627My first memory of Pokemon was when a girl in my second-grade class brought some Pokemon toys that her father had bought in Japan before it had officially made it overseas. The first time I saw the games being played was when my best friend from church brought his Gameboy with him on an overnight school field trip. My parents gave me Blue and a translucent purple GBC for my 8th birthday. My mom's parents gave me Yellow for Christmas, and my dad's mother gave me Red. Those two games are some of the only gifts I still have from my grandparents now. I played through all of them several times. I would just start a new game after catching Mewtwo.
>>37102642lol Gen 3 plays slow as fuck. Gen 1 is fun, because it goes by fast, and there are so many ways to play it. You can go after the gyms in almost any order you want, you can do speed runs, glitch runs, the flavor text and Game Corner aren't censored like in newer games, the battle mechanics aren't bogged down by elements that were added in later games, etc. Of course they are the "worst" games in the series from a technical standpoint, but they were revolutionary for the time. Most other Gameboy games were platformers like Mario and Kirby, or shitty Atari ports.
