>Who is Shudo?Shudo was the original head writer for the Pokemon series during the OS. He stopped being involved at all about the time Hoenn started in 2002 (16 years ago).
Shudo is INFAMOUS for his crazy fucking ideas for the show, with a proposed plot of one of the films starring a T-Rex, or having the end of the show being Ash vs Pikachu. Shudo’s novelizations of the anime are FILLED with contradictory canon and lore, almost all of which never came to fruition. Regardless at how integral he was to creating the OS, it’s clear that OS isn’t HIS vision, but instead a collaborative effort.
>The statement does not concern itself with actual feelings of the characters, but rather from the perspective of a writer chained to the status quoNowhere in the interview does Shudo define Ash/Misty’s innermost feelings to each other. His statement explicitly gets across the worry that a romance (with anybody) would have a negative impact on the show in terms of plot.
He outright admits that Misty was written as if she has feelings for Ash, the trick was that he never intended on following that character trait forward, as it would, in his eyes, change what the show is.
If we are to take Shudo’s word as Biblical, than nobody will ever win the Ashbowl, as he is STILL 10 and STILL best buddies with Pikachu.
