I read this guide and it seemed fine besides one part.

shiny rates increase with every successful chain but the max increase stops at a chain of 40 which is 1/200. Once you reach 40 just keep resetting until you get a shiny patch. Also note the chain doesn't need to be at 40. I caught my amoongus at a chain of 26
